NATURE EXCURSIONS

This region has over six hundred species of orchids and about two hundred types of rhododendrons making it a paradise for nature lovers. They grow wild in the damp sub-tropical forests and in the high alpine region. This twelve day excursion takes on through dense evergreen forests, and crystal clear rivulets. The best time to visit this area is from march to may.

• DAY 01:
Arrival Bagdogra airport transfer to Darjeeling ( 2134 m, 80 kms, 4 hrs).
• DAY 02:
Fullday local sightseeing.
• DAY 03:
AM: Drive to Kalimpong (1250 m, 45 kms, 2 hrs).
PM: Halfday sightseeing.
• Day 04, 05 & 06:
Day excursions to nearby forests to see wild orchids in their natural habitat. Visits to local nurseries. Slide shows and lectures by experts in the evenings.
• DAY 07:
Drive to Hilly in Sikkim (220 m, 105 kms, 6 hrs). Walk to Varshey.
• DAY 08:
Nature walks around rhododendron forests.
• DAY 09:
Drive to Pemayangtse (2085 m, 110 kms, 6 hrs).
• DAY 10:
Drive to Gangtok (1600 m, 117 kms, 7 hrs). Visit Rumtek monastery on the way.
• DAY 11:
Local sightseeing including orchid sanctuary.
• DAY 12:
Departure transfer from Gangtok.
