NORTH SIKKIM ALPINE TOUR

North Sikkim - An area that has been opened recently to foreigners is Lachung (300m) and Yumthang (3500m) valleys.

You will require three days and two nights for this trip to a wonderful alpine country with the breath taking scenic beauty. The drive from Gangtok will take you first to Mangan, the headquarters of the North District of Sikkim. Then on to Chungthang Situated on the confluence of the Lachen Lachung rivers. Next comes Lachung with magnificent waterfalls cascading down the mountains into lush meadows filled with apple orchards. The total drive takes about 6 hours. The pristine valley of Yumthang is the final destination just an hours drive away. A complete wilderness, Yumthang is a paradise on earth. One cam also take a rejuvenating dip at the famous hot springs which have been known to cure many an ailment.

One should be prepared to face certain inconveniences as this area has been opened to tourists only recently. This will, however, be more than compensated by the beautiful landscape and by the spirit of adventure that is sure to overcome you as you prepare to go into what is perhaps the last of the wilderness.
