WILDERNESS TREK

This fifteen day trek leads one up to the hase camp of Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, where it conducts it's training on ice and snow work in the surrounding mountains. After a scenic drive up to Pemayangtse and then to Yuksom sampling the rich Sikkimese culture all the way. The trek originates in Yuksom and takes one through virgin forest, icy cold rivulets, high mountain passes and breathtaking valleys surrounded by snow clad mountains. The highlight of the trek will be the excursion along the rocky Rathong glacier and the magnificent view of the Kanchenjunga mass from Goecha-la. Till today this area is a total wilderness, the beauty and purity of nature unspoiled by the evils of modernization.

• DAY 01:
Arrival Bagdogra airport transfer to Darjeeling (2134 m, 80 kms, 4 hrs).
• DAY 02:
Local sightseeing Darjeeling.
• DAY 03:
Drive to Yuksom via Pemayangtse (1750 m, 116 kms, 8 hrs)
• DAY 04:
Trek begins Yuksom to Tshokha (3200 m, 15 kms, 4 hrs).
• DAY 05:
Tshokha to Zamligaon (3500 m, 9 km, 4 hrs).
• DAY 06:
Zamligaon to H.M.I. Base Camp (4380 m, 10 kms, 4 hrs).
• DAY 07:
Day excursion along the Rathong glacier.
• DAY 08:
Base Camp to Dzongri (4030 m, 10 km, 4 hrs).
• DAY 09:
Dzongri to Thangsing (3030 m, 7 km, 3 hr)
• DAY 10:
Thangsing to Chemathang "Lake Samity" (4500 m, 6 km, 3 hrs).
• DAY 11:
Chemathang to Goecha-la and back to Thangsing (4940 m, 16 km, 7 hrs).
• DAY 12:
Thangsing to Bakhim (3000 m, 12 km, 4 hrs).
• DAY 13:
Bakhim to Yuksom (1750 m, 12 km, 4 hrs). End to trek.
• DAY 14:
Drive from Yuksom to Gangtok via Tashiding (160 km, 8 hrs).
• DAY 15:
Fullday sightseeing in Gangtok.
• DAY 16:
Departure transfer from Gangtok.
Please note that a minimum of 4 persons are required for this trek.
If you have one more day to spare in Gangtok you take the following optional tour to Tsangu Lake close to Tibetan border.
