LUMBINI

One of the most famous Buddhist places of pilgrimage in the world is, no doubt, Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha. It lies in Kapilvastu district of western Nepal that is about 250 km exciting drive from Kathmandu. The nearest point to reach for Lumbini by air is Bhairahawa that is approximately 35 minute's flight.

Some of the interesting things to be seen in and around Lumbini include :

• Ashoka pillar with ancient inscription.
• Mayadevi Mandir dedicated to the mother of Lord Buddha.
• Siddhartha pond where Gautam Buddha was bathed after his birth.
